1) REEL NEWS 24 OUT NOW

Website being updated at the moment, but from Monday you will be able to watch highlights, and order a copy, at www.reelnews.co.uk

Featuring: Gaza flotilla attack - the truth. We made this film with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (http://www.palestinecampaign.org), and here's what they say about it:

This shocking film has just been released by PSC, and is a must-see for everyone involved in the movement.

Comprising footage smuggled from the Mavi Marmara, it shows the moment of Israel's brutal attack on the flotilla and its deadly aftermath. Survivors tell their chilling stories, as a picture builds of the true horror that took place on the night of 31 May 2010. This film strips away the banal caution of mainstream media reporting to lay bare the murderous brutality of the Israeli state, reminding us of the everyday terror faced by the occupied people of Palestine.

Plus: Blacklisted We made this film with the Blacklist Support Group, who are campaigning over 3,213 building workers who have been blacklisted for their trade union activities - in most cases simply for speaking out over companies breaking health and safety law, in an industry where dozens of workers still die every year on building sites. As a result, they are refused employment and in many cases haven't worked for years, or have been forced to leave the industry. Most people associate this criminal practice with the Economic League in the 80s - it's still going on, and we need to stop it!

Plus:

- the Smash EDO court case: the "decommissioners" walk free

- a 35 minute film on Bolivia from 2006 giving a rare

chance to hear voices from the Bolivian social movements themselves talking about their incredible struggles, and their thoughts on the new president Evo Morales

- the London college lecturers strike from May...

Reel News is finally on Facebook! From now on, we'll be posting regular updates of the campaigns we're involved in, the films we're making and any other stuff we think you should know about, or you think we should know about. It'll be starting with a bang with Reel News's first trip to the States, where we'll be visiting the growing network of food cooperatives in Detroit, meeting key organisers in the Dodge Revolutionary Union Movement from the 60s, getting a tour of Detroit from John Sinclair , hooking up with the Movimiento por Justicia en el Barrio in Harlem and finding out about the new craftivism movement amongst other things...

Again from Monday, you'll be able to get to our Facebook page via our website, or just click on the link below:

3) FREE TICKETS TO READING FESTIVAL

Now we've got your attention, yes of course there's a catch. In order to help raise money to do what we do, Reel News gets work at festivals from the Workers Beer Company. Volunteers work on the bar and instead of getting paid, the money goes to Reel News. So if you fancy working for six hours a day at the festival (Friday 27th August - Sunday 29th August), you get free entry, meals and drinks, hot showers, nice toilets and a secure place to camp in return - and our eternal gratefulness for helping us to keep going and stay independent. You have to be a supporter of Reel News to do it and completely reliable, but if you've got this email that should mean you are - we'll soon find out if you're not if you get in contact!

If you're interested, you really would be helping us out. Email Tim at maynt04@hotmail.com, and he'll tell you what to do next if you fit the criteria. If you can't make it this time but are interested in other festivals in the future, get in touch anyway.

That's all for this month - look out for a nationwide UK tour in the Autumn with ourselves and Schmovies - in the planning stages at the moment!
