CHOREOGRAPHIC CAPTURES

The CHOREOGRAPHIC CAPTURES art project and short-film competition was initiated under the motto "Art for those who didn't ask for it!" by JOINT ADVENTURES with support from the German Federal Cultural Foundation in 2008. The goal is as simple as it is ambitious: to use unconventional means to increase people’s awareness of the art forms of film, dance and choreography.

A CHOREOGRAPHIC CAPTURE is a short choreographic film in the format of an advertising clip. The content of the film involves, in the widest sense, the themes of dance, movement and choreography. Although the films are similar to the format of a classical advertising clip, through their artistic character they embody a counter program to the purely commercial intentions of advertising.

The choreographic short films should surprise their audience at different locations. The winning films will be presented all year at the partner theaters between the film ads. With our partners’ help, screenings will also take place for current and selected competition films at festivals, events, venues and theaters in other European countries.

The project’s website CHOREOOO.ORG also serves as an interactive platform for a large circle of interested parties. It is meant to give this art form space for artistic input, exchange, networking and presentation, and to advance the interaction between choreography and media art.

The focal point of the project is the international CHOREOGRAPHIC CAPTURES competition. This competition is held once each year under the auspices of JOINT ADVENTURES. Next deadline is on September 10, 2015.
