The Khimki Hostages Need Your Solidarity!
How to help Maxim Solopov and Alexei Gaskarov, the two young Russian antifascists imprisoned by the Russian authorities in revenge for a demonstration outside the Khimki town hall (suburban Moscow) on July 28 of this year. The demonstration was part of the campaign to save the Khimki Forest, which the Russian state, the biggest construction company in France (Vinci), and their local subcontractors began cutting down illegally this past summer (as forest fires were blazing throughout Russia, including the Moscow region) to make way for a Petersburg-Moscow toll highway. The campaign to save the forest has been going on for three years and has been marked by levels of gangster-like violence against activists and residents that are remarkable even for contemporary Russia.
