16/03/2007 - 2:38am 09/05/2007 - 4:30pm Etc/GMT VAN ALEN INSTITUTE NEW YORK PRIZE FELLOWSHIP Van Alen Institute invites applications for the New York Prize Fellowship, a new fellowship program in support of multidisciplinary research and experimental practice in public architecture. Early to mid-career practitioners and scholars from the design and planning disciplines, and other fields in the arts, humanities and sciences are invited to apply. Fellows are given an opportunity to pursue advanced independent research and to generate public projects on the most significant issues shaping the design and use of public space today. Projects can range across media, temporalities, dimensions and scales in the form of exhibitions, installations, performances, symposia and other formats. The Institute supports critical and creative projects that provoke new ways of thinking about and making public space, and that engage public audiences in imaginative and productive ways. Up to five fellowships for periods of three months each will be granted in 2007-2008. Fellowships include a stipend, project support, individual office/studio space at the Institute, and the opportunity to publish work. The application deadline is May 9, 2007.
