Henry VIII's Wives, The Returning Officer: Henry VIII's Wives - Bob Grieve, Rachel Dagnall, Sirko Knupfer, Simon Polli, Per Sander, and Lucy Skaer - are all based in various northern European countries. They come together as a collaborative group at the invitation of institutions to develop new projects specifically for the host location. The returning officer is inspired by people and their relationships to specific places. The project takes as a starting point three fictional stories inspired by three locations chosen by the artists for their peculiarity and resonance. These location are: The Legacy House, Belgrade - a house owned by the Museum of Contemporary Art, which was used as a casino and brothel during the Milosevic era, an organ builder's adapted house and workshop outside Vilnius, and an opium poppy field in Austria. The individual films have been edited and mediated through a series of collaborative processes in Bristol where an installation will be built to house thenew works.
