Sumit Sarkar: Ananta

http://www.cornerhouse.org/art/info.aspx?ID=354&page=0

From Fri 11 August to Sun 1 October
Part of Cornerhouse Projects

Sarkar's new body of work, entitled Ananta, Sanskrit for 'The Endless'
focuses on the Hindu Gods and their theologies.  Ananta has developed
out of an extensive study of ancient Hindu texts and a consequent
recreation of the Gods in a contemporary context. This new work combines
this modern interpretation of the Gods with a more traditional
representation, as seen in temples and other places of worship.

For Cornerhouse Projects, Sarkar will be painting the Gods directly onto
the walls of the cafe and bar, in his trademark manga/graffiti style.
