meetings of the ‘work group’, as well as an interactive blog, where the visitor
can deposit his/her own loss.

In the
spring of 2004, following the initiative of artist Maria Konti, a first
invitation is sent out to artists from Greece and abroad, regarding the
submission of a draft drawing – and not a finished
work – as well as a
text written by the participant himself/herself on the theme of loss. Under the
general title draft drawing, a number of drawings and
texts by artists of various nationalities is
gathered, while a
series of meetings between a group of Greek artists that take part in the
project
- also known as the
‘work group’ – begins, in view of exchanging ideas on the subject of loss,
but
also attempting to
give a shape to the archive that has been put together.
In turn,
these meetings are recorded (on video, tapes, notes, photos etc.) and form a
second archive, where the process of arranging and developing the material is
documented. Every now and then, new members join the group, while others leave.
In November 2004 a decision is made as to presenting the project online, the
creative and practical part of which is taken up by web designers mona.exists.
The project, having taken a new turn, is renamed the loss project ~
a draft drawing. By extending the
invitation to
non-artists, the
archive is supplemented with participations by theorists from various fields. In
May 2005 the ‘work group’ artists reply positively to the challenge of
‘exposing’ themselves by having their meetings’ archive curated and presented as
part of the web site, with the intention of projecting the process through which
the loss project was given shape.
