mutant media imageYou are being invited to participate in the Mutant
Media Freak show. The idea of the project is to create two adaptable
humorous shows (one for kids one for adults) involving film, music,
street art, cabaret, forum theater and walk about performance.
The themes are Underground media, Anti-nuclear art activism, and
pro-change ?Mutate and Survive? ideas and Freak culture in general. The
timescale is late May to August 2007.
You might want to be one of the following.
..:: an organizer, venue host, advisor or 'executive producer'
..:: a contributing artist, film maker or musician
..:: one of the touring freaks ? doing performance, media / art
workshops, music, info stalls etc

The method of the Mutant Media Freak show is to create a flexible
platform for all kinds of performance / art / film / misfit-lit / music.
The essentials are a space where we can install the following
..:: Sound system, projector and screen
..:: Small performance space with room for musicians, performer and
microphone
..:: Backdrops and info stall
Ideally we are looking to install this set up in existing spaces. A list
of some suitable venues would be
..:: Autonomous social centers and similar spaces
..:: Socially conscious musical nights
..:: Progressive youth centers
..:: Festival Tents; Groovy movie, Schnews, undercurrents, Rebel Soul,
Rinky Dink, Cabaret at the End of the world, Bassline circus.
Working with other Venues / hosts reduces the need for expensive
logistics and time consuming promotion. It lets us concentrate on the
performance and information sharing aims.

We will prepare the art and installations for the show at an live
evolving art space. This could be the Basement social center Manchester,
Common space leeds, or Oxford social centre or rural location.
*...:::Aims of the Show:::...*
The show has aims that are both concrete and intangible.
>> Help network and mobilize a new generation of activists against the
nuclear cycle; [uranium mining > weapons and power > disposal/ treatment]
>> Create means of communication and organizing for this emerging network
>> Increase awareness of underground media and anti nuclear information
sources. Inspire a wide range of non-activist public to view and get
involved in underground media
>> Showcase existing underground media to as many people as possible in
a receptive and entertaining environment
>> Provide Media training workshops; Art, Digital images, video and audio
>> Source and distribute leaflets, stickers, DVDs, CDs, T-shirts
containing relevant information and detailing other sources of relevant
data.
This show should mainly be self-funded. Most costs, including promoting
each night and distributing printed material/ DVDs should be covered by
donation.
We are also looking to get a couple of paying placements in the summer.
One in a youth training program and ideally a residency at a media center.
However there are some costs which we are seeking funding for.
