Loosely..........
I think what would be interesting, if we're going to visit the 2.0
version, is to *also* go back to what exactly 1.0 actually was... This
could be done in one of many ways, one of which would be to follow, or
extend the 'model' of 1.0 into what it's 'actually' become, and to ask
what this says a) about the model and b) about the forces impinging on
it so as to make it what it was (though this could become a bit facile I
fear); the other way I've imagined, is to revisit the persons or
statements of some of the very early 'thought leaders' of the 1.0
version, when the Web was small enough to arguably allow ideas to have
quite material effects. The influencers here would range from the more
obvious West Coast bunch that has been lionised and critiqued to death
(and who occasionally seem oddly polarised now vis a vis the Web 2.0
moment - viz the Jaron Lanier article I posted a while back) to the
notionally 'alternative' brigade of net.artists and software designers,
and then some others, like Roseanne Allecquere Stone, or Brenda Laurel,
all of whom I get the impression have disappeared up the jacksie of
industry.

(ut austin web site has all this info.) not sure about brenda laurel. xlaura"Mute (Pauline van Mourik Broekman)" <mute@metamute.org> wrote: Loosely..........I think what would be interesting, if we're going to visit the 2.0 version, is to *also* go back to what exactly 1.0 actually was...
