The Marxist Internet Archive would very much like a volunteer, from anywhere in
the world, to maintain a site devoted to Dora B Montefiore, (1851-1932) a
socialist and feminist. She played a key role in the Dublin dock strike of 1913.
At the age of 69, with three decades of militant feminist and socialist activity
then behind her, she was elected to the provisional executive of the Communist
Party of Great Britain at its founding conference in 1920. Now almost forgotten,
Montefiore, after Sylvia Pankhurst, was then the most prominent British woman
Communist and she played a crucial role in the establishment of the suffrage
movement in New South Wales and England. All her documents are being
obtained from various libraries, scanned and proofed. All the volunteer would
have to do is to HTML them and put them on the MIA site. It is a limited job and
will finish since DBM wrote a limited amount. Already gathered are 7 articles
from Social Democrat, 3 pamphlets and an autobiography. There is a bit more
but not much. Some of this material is already on the MIA at http://
