Subject: [dorkbotlondon-blabber] Intro to Pure Data, blogging, and more at Space Media ArtsTo: dorkbotlondon-blabber@dorkbot.orgHello Dorks,
New dates for emergent technologies courses at Space Media Arts:Mon 29 Jan: **Intro to building a blogging website**Tue 6 Feb: **Intro to Pure Data**Mon 26 Mar: **Video Streaming & POD / VOD Casting**
Tue 27 Mar: **Intro to Pure Data**So if any of you wannabe an RSS web 2.0 pod/vod/blog-casting type, there are a couple of courses for you there. The Pure Data course would be relevant for anyone who wants to participate in future versions of the laptop drum circle that we held at the last Dorkbot -- Chun and I (2/4ths of the circle) were both using Pure Data! Of course, there are an infinite number of more interesting and practical uses of Pure Data, described in the course outline below, but participation in a laptop drum circle is probably motivation enough, IMHO.
Other course descriptions to appear soon on http://www.spacemedia.org.uk along with our other media courses available.Heather---Introduction to Pure Data

training@spacestudios.org.uk**Pure Data is a free and open source real-time graphical programming environment used by artists to create a range of visual arts, theatre, dance, audio, installation, performance and media art works.
Pure Data is ideal for those looking to integrate emergent technologies or new media into their work for the first time, or media artists looking to explore new tools and new ways to combine them in a unified environment. It is easy to use Pure Data to create interactive environments, link animations and sound, control hardware and electronics, stream audio, generate real time visuals and develop interfaces for other programs.
In this introductory course, participants will learn the basics of Pure Data from scratch on OSX (this knowledge can be transferred to any other operating system). Students will learn what Pure Data is, what it can do, and begin to build simple applications in "patches". Students will also learn to hack existing patches and use help patches to create applications. Places are limited to seven, where students will have their own Apple workstations, with an additional three places available to those who wish to bring their own laptops.
