Memory, secrecy, speculation
A programme in which language and images-as-evidence
become suspect. Assumption is a virtuosic personal
tribute, a glimpse at history and a celebration of
independent film culture. Perfect Film is just that –
a complete reel of found footage of interviews with
witnesses to the assassination of Malcolm X. The
Speculative Archive examine secrecy in our time of
heightened security; the ‘disappearance’ of a former
CIA source, the burial at sea of six Soviet sailors
and a missile strike on Yemen in 2002.
