Prophet brings together the work of three artists\: Esteban Igartua\, originally from Lima in Peru\, now based in Bristol\; Georgie Hopton based in London and upstate New York\, and Cornelia Parker who lives and works in London.
Georgie Hopton’s starting point is traditional still life. In her use of painting\, photography and sculpture\, each medium informs the other. The sculptures are rendered out of heavy material\; clay\, or pulped paper\, this is then tamed\, shaped\, and coaxed to make it form the leaves and petals. The delicacy of the flowers in both the paintings\, but particularly the sculptures\, is lost\, but delicacy is not the point. Perched atop polished plinths the contrast of the beautiful clumsiness and the classical plinth draws us to focus on their more sober intentions.

As Bedford enters the most significant periods of development in its history\, with the imminent construction of 19\,500 homes and the regeneration or the town centre\, BCA Gallery in association with Renaissance Bedford has commissioned artist Michael Collins to make a series of vast\, highly detailed\, landscape photographs. The photographs will show the town as it is today\, and will be exhibited alongside photographs of Bedford as it was 100 years ago\, from the Bedfordshire &\; Luton Archives Service.
The Autumn Season at the Queen'\;s Theatre Hornchurch opens with September in the Rain by John Godber\, playing from 22 August - 13 September.

The next Hackers Camp\, organized by Mediamatic is coming up in the days preceding this years’ PICNIC event (PICNIC is a high-profile conference at the intersection of media\, technology\, the arts and entertainment). Mediamatic is a project partner of PICNIC.
Open Eye Gallery presents a newly commissioned work by Canadian artist Nancy Davenport\, shown alongside earlier parts of Workers\, an evolving series of projects conceived in 2004.
Shot at the Jaguar car plant in Halewood\, Merseyside\, Davenport'\;s new piece focuses on the assembly line and the workers'\; daily drive to the plant. Against the background of Ford'\;s recent sale of Jaguar to Indian Conglomerate Tata\, the piece reflects on changing conditions and representations of industrial production. Blurring the lines between fact and fiction\, it proposes that to search for reality we must look not beyond but within fantasy and illusion.
FACT presents new commissions from artists U-Ram Choe (Korea) and Ulf Langheinrich (Germany) as part of the fifth Liverpool Biennial. The theme of this year’s Biennial is Made Up. At FACT\, artists focus on the power of the mind to make up meaning when faced with complete abstraction and extreme sensory deprivation.
On Saturday 20th September 2008\, join the Peckham Street Trainers on a tour that will introduce you to innovative and playful ways of reclaiming public space. Peckham Street Training is an artistic collaboration between Lottie Child and net-art organisation Furtherfield.org in association with Gloucester Primary School.
The digital glow of the internet has largely replaced the dark space of the cinema as the site where furtive desires are first expressed and encountered on flickering screens. Consequently\, the web continues to evolve into an uncanny hybrid of personal longing and collective interaction where configurations of watching and being watched take on radically new form.
The first major solo exhibition by young artist Tom Dale\, traces the phenomenon of the motorcycle stunt driver\, in particular th 1970s American Icon Evel Knievel. Dale'\;s new sculptural work is series of reconstructed stunt ramps whose trajetories have been skewed. Leading off into impossible directions they conjure up ideaologies of national pride and sacrifice\: launch pads for the political ideals of a culture and its time.
This retrospective\, travelling from the North to the South of the peninsula and going from the mythical date of 1968 to the reality of 2008\, includes two generations of artists and forty years of discovery.
