A selection of Clegg & Guttmann’s wide ranging public projects, produced
between 1990 and 2006 will be featured in the duo's first UK solo
exhibition.

The work engages with different institutions, cultural forms and
ideological structures. Social Sculptures reveal the nature of art
institution by comparing them with others, and studying their place in
the system; Community Portraits contemplate the identity and history of
particular communities; and Spontaneous Operas invite communities to
present themselves through songs, dances, speeches and other forms of
performative behavior. For Cornerhouse, each of the works will
demonstrate a different re-contextualisation strategy, and will bear a
different relation to the original project from which it was derived.
