Invisix – the unholy alliance between Motorola and Cisco Systems aimed at cornering the ‘WAP customised solutions’ market – has produced a series of corporate presentation videos to rival the dystopian horror of 1984. Business men sit together in deserted cafés preferring to violate their mobiles with credit cards than risk conversation; teen girls sit in the back of daddy’s car conducting ear-piece love affairs like bored secretaries; Japanese babes ‘enjoy’ jet-set vacuity against a background of plinkety WAP-borne jazz and a constant video-phone assault of invitiations from international-yet-identical hunks. With capitalist futurology like this, who needs Adorno?
